The design and message on your home page can mean the difference between a bounced visitor (someone who visits no other page on your site before leaving) or a new, bonafide design client. With that in mind I will share with you a number of guidelines I find effectively improve the success of websites.

Before I get into the nitty gritties of home page planning I should note that a lot of the following concepts and questions should be driven by some measure of a business plan.
